  • Dublin Day Two

    Thu 04 Jun 2015
Dublin Day Two began with an extremely early start followed by a hearty full Irish breakfast, cereal, toast, continental foods, fresh fruit, milk, orange and  pink grapefruit juice.

The coach left at 8.00am for the centre of Dublin for a very different tour of the city. The tour consisted of four DUCKW vehicles which were  made in America 73 years ago for assistance in the D Day landings on the Normandy beaches during World War Two. The tour consisted of a very witty Viking guide who informed the children about the interesting facts and historical events about Dublin and then continued the tour down a jetty into the Grand Canal Basin and completed the tour on land while the children growled as Vikings to surprised passing Celts!!. The amphibious experience was just unreal! Emma had the  most amazing opportunity to steer the vehicle on the water after singing "Grease is the Word!"

After a picnic lunch and tour of Phoenix Park, the amazing and modernised Dublin Zoo was our next port of call. With an incredibly knowledgeable zoo guide, the animals of Africa in their "natural habitats" were explored and enjoyed. Zebras, giraffes, elephants , the great apes, monkeys, tigers and lions, to name but a few, roamed in relative freedom in vast areas of land. The Pink Flamingos were built an aviary to enable them to fly without flying away and also to protect their eggs from the thieving otters!

The evening meal was another homemade success with a choice between fresh salmon, bolognaise and cheeseburger, followed by a selection of desserts.

The bowling was a lot of fun ... noisy but enjoyable and the children clearly were entertained by the experience of the third and final activity of the day!

As I type the corridors are once again silent as your cherubs recharge their batteries for Dublin Day Three!!

    Enjoy the Photographs!

  • Dublin Day One

    Wed 03 Jun 2015
After a number of technical, computer related problems I've finally managed to start
    "The Dublin Daily Blog."

The day began brilliantly as the weather, bus, teachers and children arrived on time. The bus journey was smooth and uneventful with a brief stop a Apple Green for break and leg stretching. The next port of call was Marine Life in Bray. This was an extremely detailed and informative guided tour all about the marine life in and around the shores of Ireland and included sea horses, sharks and the famous clown fish Nemo!

After lunch on the Bray promenade followed by a genuine Italian ice-cream and a play on the beach it was time to head back up  north to the White Sands Hotel. The children quickly settled into their rooms after investigation and exploration of each others rooms and the Hotel itself! This of course was a very quiet and reserved affair!!

A wholesome homemade evening meal was served in the restaurant and the children were polite, courteous and respectful. The evening activity was a trip to the cinema to watch "Tomorrow Land" a movie that could be best described as Eco-Sci-fy  But with popcorn, sweets, drinks, a huge screen and plush seating it was certainly a pleasurable experience!

So at the minute all the cherubs are tucked in and the Hotel corridors are quiet as the children slumber and recharge their batteries for a 7.10am start and an action packed Day 2 Dublin!
