Swift Boxes

Did you know the Balfast has been named Swift City?

As part of the Greenspace Bernie project we will be installing Swift Boxes on the side of the school.  These will include digital nest cameras so that people can watch the live action.

Every year, RSPB encourage people to report sightings of swifts all over the UK in their Swift Survey, but the Swift City project goes one step further.  It covers 30 square kilometres across Belfast, brings together a team of expert volunteers and aims to locate and protect nests.

The swift is a medium-sized aerial bird, which is a superb flier. It evens sleeps on the wing!  Find out more about Swifts, including hearing their calls, on RSPB page.

Swift boxes will be set up as part of the Spring project - dates to follow.
