Marble Drop Experiment
In P5S we took part in a marble drop experiment in which we explored the density of different liquids:
- water
- baby oil
- hand sanitizer
- shampoo
- lemonade
- salty water
We used our senses to try and predict what was in each test tube, and which would be the densest liquid. We also made predictions about what would happen when we dropped the marbles in each liquid.
We dropped the marbles into the tubes one by one and timed how long it took to reach the bottom. We found that the hand sanitizer was the densest as it took the marble the longest to reach the bottom - it still hadn't reached the bottom when we got to school the next morning!
