St.Bernard's Judo Club is the longest established club in school. Ciaran Ward (Head coach of Yamakwai Judo Club, Belfast) coaches the judo classes on a Thursday afternoon from 3-4.15pm. At the beginning of each academic year Ciaran organises a judo display in the assembly hall for Year 4-7 pupils. This event is always very popular and  keenly anticipated by our pupils.

Boys and  girls from Years 4 - 7 can attend the club. They obtain a judo licence that enables them to particpate in gradings for belts and also compete in competitions around Ireland.

Judo translates as 'GENTLE' . It develops co-ordination and agility and is equally good at giving self-confidence to the more timid child and self-control to the more lively.
